We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Domain Expert – Network technologies within Technology Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below. 

Detailed Description 

Reporting to the Network Expert, This is strategic and tactical role focusing on access and core networks.

The role holder will be responsible for:

• Providing expert advice and strategies for rapid deployment and scaling of access network technologies (both mobile and fixed), and convergent core network and Telco Cloud Infrastructure. This includes support sourcing efforts to actualize these
• Long-range planning and architectural advice leading to coherent execution and realization of technology vision 2025
• Advising on regulatory frameworks and their impact. Further, develop plans to ope-rationalize requisite response(s) to the requirements to ensure compliance
• Formulating network strategies to ensure that the deployed capabilities meet existing and future business and regulatory requirements
• Advising and Building capacity for cost efficiencies across access network domains. This includes plans to synergize deployments
• Entrench adoption of best practices and standards in deployment and operations
• Offering expert advice on deployment, operating and business models
• Tactical sourcing support working in tandem with stakeholders to source for new capabilities through RFPs. This includes build-up and execution of effective strategies for partner and contract management

Job Responsibilities 

• Technical advice on infrastructure sharing and outsourcing
• Ensure compliance to all requisite regulations
• Provide expert advice on network architectures and best practices across the various domains while leveraging synergies across network and IT where possible to drive overall value for the organization
• Develop and/or provide expert advice on appropriate business models, deployment, models, operating models, and capabilities to support the company’s strategic vision towards a technology company
• Provide expert advice and strategies for maximization of the ROI on technology investments and leverage new technologies e.g., SDN/NFV, Telco Cloud, data etc. to architect and design future-ready networks
• Responsible for cost efficiencies by streamlining implementation of technologies, architectures, organization, and external services to ensure efficient use of available resources and avoidance of duplication
• The expert in this position is responsible for reviewing and advising on approvals of sensitive and important design decisions prior to investment.
• The holder of this position is responsible for guiding formulation of strategies, technology innovation and enterprise architecture services.
• Reviews architectural designs and re-designs to ensure that solutions proposed will exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, appropriate re-usability, and reliability upon deployment

Job Requirements

• BSc Degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or IT
• Practical understanding of Telco networks across the data center (OSS/BSS), network core, edge and into the RAN as well as virtualization, big-data, security, data storage, private cloud and hyper-converged solutions, as well as the solution’s value when mapped to business needs.
• Broad, diverse experience and knowledge of major network technologies (legacy to emerging e.g., 5G, NFV/SDN, cloud, Big Data and Analytics etc.) across various domains
• Exhibit a passion for technology and have a thirst to continually learn and keep pace with the accelerating change across multiple technologies and solutions
• At least 5 years of experience in Network/IT Strategy, Technology Innovation and Ecosystems, Operating Models, and operational transformation
• At least 5 years of experience writing and/or analyzing business cases (quantitative and qualitative) to support strategic business initiatives, process improvement initiatives, or IT transformation
• Domain experience in networks and IT is critical with an understanding of how new technologies can drive value to the business
• At least 3 years of experience improving the business value of technology
• At least 2 years of experience leading teams including planning/structuring analytical work and facilitating team workshops
• Broad technical expertise combined with business acumen and strong consulting skills.
• Excellent communication skills - Must also be able to communicate to persons at all technical levels including C-Suite
