Summary

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Truck Driver.

The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: NO

Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: NO

Travel Required: 25% or less, the position needs 25% or less travel

Duties

Under direct supervision of the Assistant Facility Manager, the incumbent operates heavy trucks, water trucks, fuel truck light vehicles, and forklifts in the transport, placement, delivery and physical organization of the Embassy’s operation. As well as other official duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of heavy truck driving, of which two to include forklift operation, is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school is required

LANGUAGE:

  • Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic and Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (These may be tested).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be professionally skilled at handling trucks with liquid (water & fuel) and forklifts
  • Ability to follow instructions carefully, identify potential problems and advise supervisor, with a minimum of supervision to provide the most efficient service
  • Must have a valid class 5 drivers’ license (These may be tested)
