Summary

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Supply Supervisor (Deputy Property Supervisor).

The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (44 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

The Deputy Property Supervisor has the primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the warehouses and logistics operations within the Property Section. Directly supervises four people and indirectly supervises 30 members of the Property Management Staff. In the absence of the Property Supervisor, assumes responsibility for the overall operations of the Property Management Section and its resources. Ensures that all non-expendable USG property is stored, distributed, and disposed of according to regulation and that all associated property documentation is accurate and up-to-date. Acts as warehouse complex site supervisor for the large off-site Embassy warehouse compound. Coordinates and liaises with other Embassy sections and is the secondary point of contact for customer service issues for American & Locally Employed (LE) staff.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of four years experience in warehousing, inventory and property management. An additional two years experience in supervising subordinate staff in any field is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of two years of university studies is required.

LANGUAGE:

  • Amharic Level III (good working knowledge, reading/speaking/writing) and English Level III (good working knowledge, reading/speaking/writing) is required. (These may be tested)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to interact with Ethiopian and American contacts and customers
  • Must be able to prepare stock replenishment requests for GSO approval at least twice per year to maintain required stock levels
  • Ability to supervise staff effectively and without conflict; to set priorities; to closely follow instructions; set, maintain and follow schedules
  • Must have a 2nd valid Ethiopian driver’s license and be able to operate a manual transmission (stick-shift) vehicle. (this may be tested)
