Summary: 

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Supervisory Telephone Operator

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (44 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end

Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Information Management Specialist, the incumbent manages the Embassy switchboard sub-unit and directly supervises two FSN assistant switchboard operators. In addition, the Incumbent also operates the switchboard console and ensures that incoming and outgoing calls for the American Embassy are handled professionally and expeditiously. Related administrative duties are also performed.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three years of telephone switchboard experience, as well as some administrative and clerical experience, are required

EDUCATION: 

  • Completion of high/secondary school is required

LANGUAGE: 

  • Level III (good working knowledge) of English is required and Level IV (fluent) of Amharic is required. (These may be tested)

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Intermediate skills in the use of MS-Word and MS-Excel as well as knowledge of database entry
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite. Ability to type 35 words a minute
