Job Description

BACKGROUND

International Medical Corps (IMC) is implementing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) program in Gambella refugee camps since 2017. Currently International Medical Corps is implementing GBV program six camps one transit center in Gambella. This year International Medical Corps plans to adopt Girl Shine--a program model and resource package that seeks to support, protect, and empower adolescent girls in humanitarian settings. Girl Shine has been designed to help contribute to the improved prevention of and response to violence against adolescent girls in humanitarian settings by providing them with skills and knowledge to identify types of GBV and seek support services if they experience or are at risk of GBV.

IMC is planning to conduct the Girl shine training for IMC GBV teams on from August 9 - 13, 2021 in Gambella town. IMC strongly believes that it is strategically crucial to deliver complementary support to the Girl Shine Life Skills Curriculum and is a critical component of the overall Girl Shine program.

OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING

The overall objective of the training is to help participants possess better understanding of Girl shine program model/curriculum through providing support to empower adolescent girls in humanitarian settings and help contribute to the improved prevention of and response to violence against adolescent girls in humanitarian settings, by providing them with skills and knowledge to identify types of GBV and seek support services if they experience or are at risk of GBV.

SCOPE OF THE TRAINING

Girl Shine Program Model/Curriculum training is a five-day training and will be conducted from August 9-13, 2021 in Gambella. The total number of trainees is 19 GBV Staff’s (6 senior GBV officers, 6 response officer and 7 assistant response officer). This training will be conducted by consultant wo have been trained in Girl Shine Curriculum’s. The training facilitator/Consultant will cover all the resource package (Girl Shine: Advancing the field--designing girl-driven gender based violence programming in Humanitarian settings (Part 1), Girl Shine: Life skills curriculum (Part 2), Girl Shine: Caregiver curriculum (Part 3), Girl Shine: Mentor and facilitator training manual (Part 4). The facilitators will as well develop detail training agenda and training materials, including PowerPoint presentation and handouts. The facilitators will also bring Girl shine resource packages and other necessary materials to the training venue.

METHODOLOGY

The training will be interactive and also utilize a variety of training techniques and approaches suitable to the target audience with a view to ensure maximum internalization of content; and this includes PowerPoint presentation, role play, oral presentation, experience sharing, group work, discussion, brainstorming, video presentations, etc..
