About the Country Program in Ethiopia
Action Against Hunger has been operational in Ethiopia since 1984 responding to both chronic and acute needs through a multi-sectoral strategy where nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, WASH, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support activities are integrated to have a meaningful impact on people’s resilience. Action Against Hunger currently operates in 5 different regions (Oromia, Somali, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, and Gambella) with a portfolio of 20m USD/year of emergency, resilience building, research, and innovation programs. We have a country team of around 600 staff in 17 regional and satellite offices. Our main donors in Ethiopia in 2020/2021 are BHA, ECHO, Europaid, UNHCR, UNICEF, GFFO, BPRM, SIDA, EHF, WFP, CIAA, and others.
General Assignment:
Summary of position
Action Against Hunger is working in the Amhara region, Wag Himra Zone in all Woredas since 2011. Since this time, Action Against Hunger supported Wag Himra communities with numerous lifesaving and development projects. Currently, we are implementing 5 projects in 5 Woreda’s Sekota, Abergelle, Gagibilla, Tsagibji, and Ziqualla. The Deputy Field Coordinator will respond to Support the Management and coordination of the base and the sub-base(s) to maximize Action Against Hunger impact and address the needs within the area.
The Deputy Field Coordinator role’s purpose, engagement, and delivery are:
Purpose
The Deputy Field Coordinator will be responsible for overall Support the base management and coordination in all areas of implementation in the base. Ensuring support and program departments are running their activities as per the organizational procedures and all policies are respected. Support Field coordinator on safety and security issues in the base and the absence of field coordinator responsible, to manage all the security-related issues in the base with the coordination of capital office.
Engagement
The Deputy Field Coordinator will communicate and coordinate with the Field Coordinator; capital office, all managers both support, and program and all employees.
Externally, s/he will develop and maintain excellent relationships with donor agencies, partners, and other INGOs in Ethiopia in the absence of the Field Coordinator.
Delivery
The Deputy Filed Coordinator will oversee the quality and timely reports of the project, in line with donor rules, regulations, and standards.

The duties of the job require regular job attendance at least five days per week in areas of intervention and. Must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required.
Must be able to travel as required for standard domestic and international business purposes. While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high-security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well as to infectious diseases.
