Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

Why we need you?

We are looking for a Liaison Officer who will work closely with the regional humanitarian cluster coordinators and regional government partners and represent SOS CVE at the Program Location.

Your role....

As a Liaison Officer, you will be in charge of the following:

• Developing, maintaining, and intensify contacts with relevant government institutions and authorities.
• Developing and fostering relationships with likeminded UN Agencies, INGOs and Government authorities at regional level.
• Collecting, analysing, and utilizing, data and feedback to identify opportunities to improve the relationship between SOS CVE, UN agencies and government line bureaus
• Attending all regional cluster coordination meetings (Education, Health, WASH, Protection, Livestock, Shelter & NFI, and Agriculture) on behalf of SOS CVP-Gode and share meeting minutes with SOS CVP-Gode & SOS CVE National Office.
• Attending ad-hoc & high level humanitarian meetings and share updates from these meetings with SOS CVP-Gode and SOS CVE-National Office
• Ensuring that SOS CVP-Gode emergency response and developmental works are included in to the monthly humanitarian bulletins.
• Facilitate signing of MoUs and other important documents with the government line bureaus
• Facilitate signing of partnership agreement with likeminded government institutions and private business corporate
• Assisting procurement works at regional level
• Following up and supporting organizational vehicle maintenance services
• Facilitating and arrange special meetings of SOS CVE National Director/Deputy ND and other senior SOS CVI visitors with the regional officials.

The must haves;

• BA degree in Law, Political Science, Sociology or other relevant social fields
• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
• Proficiency in English in addition to the local language
• Commanding computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge and understanding of government settings and functions at regional level

The Pluses

• Prior INGO experience is advantageous
