JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Response Plan Coordinator – Ethiopia Health and Wellness Survey (HWS)

LOCATION: Country Office, Addis Ababa

REQUIRED NUMBER: 1

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract for 6 Months

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

ICAP Columbia University (ICAP) is an international non-profit organization that aims to ensure the wellness of families and communities by strengthening health systems around the world. ICAP in Ethiopia, in partnership with Central Statistics Agency (CSA), the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other partners, is planning to conduct a Health and Wellness Survey (HWS) to estimate the prevalence of violence against children and youth in Ethiopia, which will help to design future interventions and prevention strategies. In addition to providing important programmatic information to the Ministry of Women Children and Youth (MoWCY), the Ministry of Health (MOH), and other relevant stakeholders, the survey is also highly valuable to educators and researchers. For project implementation ICAP would like to hire an experienced Response Plan Coordinator.

 OVERALL JOB FUNCTION

Reporting to the HWS Coordinator, ICAP in Ethiopia, the HWS Response Plan Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Ethiopia Health and Wellness Survey (HWSE) response plan. The Response plan Coordinator will also be responsible for developing, updating, training, and exercising a comprehensive HWS Response Plan for participants identified as needing referrals during HWS survey implementation. Additionally, S/he will assure that the HWS field staff and partner organizations are appropriately trained and are knowledgeable about the responses to emotional, sexual, and physical violence per the HWS protocol. S/he will collaborate and coordinate plans with the various response agencies, volunteer organizations, business, and private industries.

Job Requirements

  • At least a Master’s degree in social science or a related field
  • A least five years of experience in response plan coordination
  • Familiarity with fieldwork and population-based surveys.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  Able to act as a manager in setting priorities and be able to indicate when central support is required.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Amharic or Oromiffa or Tigrigna or Afar or Somali and other local languages as appropriate
  • Basic Skills in computing
  • Should be able to conduct periodic domestic travels throughout

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Periodic domestic travel throughout Ethiopia to support the planning and implementation of the WHSE. management activities in the field.
