Job Description

Purpose of the position:

Under Scale-up Project on Improving Livelihood and Wellbeing of Children & Families through SG & LVCD, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator’s primary responsibility will be undertaking regular field level activities in targeted Woredas (Bui, Guraghe, Hula, Goro, Adeaberga and Yaya-Gulele ). He/she conducts monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities and ensuring implementation of project together with project specialists, coordinator, tracking progresses, facilitating accountability and feedback mechanisms at project and AP level

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsibly develops and prepares performance monitoring plan(PMP) guide and implement it together with project team including Project manager, technical specialists and collaborate with other AP sectoral officers and finance team.
  • Identify and contextualizes key indicators from the National Standard TPs including target indicators that relate to program objectives and activities. 
  • Undertake all project’s and programs’ monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities using set performance indicators by working closely with sector technical Officers using appropriate monitoring and reporting tools and methodologies
  • Use appropriate data management systems, analyses data, aggregates data to the required level and synthesis results for report writing using appropriate and relevant tools. Use WV systems and procedures including HORIZON and other NO’s established protocols.
  • Maintains detailed schedules of activity and budget implementation tracking systems for activities monitoring and budget utilization for each Woreda and by sector.
  • Facilitates all project’s monitoring and evaluations systems are maintained within the project and AP operational area by liaising with MEAL Department, Support Service Division (SSD) at HO, RO and CPO as appropriate.
  • Ensure evaluation reports are shared with concerned stakeholder in the operational area for learning and future use. Document learning and share best and promising practices within the project, AP as well as across the organization. .
  • Ensure to prepare, and submit quarterly, biannual and annual plan and report activities undertaken as required to pace forward to the desired goal.
  • Coordinate and supervise MEAL tools are developed and utilized as needed, such as for household surveys, focus group discussions, and for collecting data from Flood mitigation and DRR projects on the engineering, economic and social aspects.
  • Work in collaboration with teams under this project as well as other units in at most professional manner as deemed necessary.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

 The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in relevant field and NGOs experience is preferred, coordinator or senior expert level
  • Excellent knowledge and skills on Monitoring, Evaluation, learning and Reporting
  • Significant bi-lateral donor grant experience with program implementation, funding acquisition, and reporting
  • Must be a creative individual with strong sense of priorities and organizational skills and an ability to work with diverse teams across considerable distances
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills are needed
  • Must be able to negotiate ideas within and outside the World Vision partnership, particularly with donor communities and government.
  • Excellent experience in proposal development, budget preparation and report writing;
  • Good knowledge of oral and written English language. 
  • Working knowledge of S4T and LVCD Model.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social sciences, Economics, Development Studies and related fields. Preferred: MA/MSc/MBA/MSW in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies and related fields

Working Environment / Conditions

  • Office-based 65%
  • Travel: 35 % Frequent travel to project site, (RO, CPO & AP travel)
