Job Description

General Duties and Responsibilities

The Chief Operation Officer is expected to work under the CEO of AET PLC and to lead the planning, organizing and execution of all of the company’s operational processes. He /she is also responsible to ensure an excellent finance and human resource management. The COO is responsible for the effective and compliant design and implementation of Andinet Education and Training PLC and its subsidiaries: Andinet International School, and Andinet International Colleges’, multiple operational functions, in human resources, communications, IT management, property management and financial management. The COO will work to optimize the company’s operating capabilities, employ strategies to maximize customer satisfaction, and manage marketing initiatives. The COO will assist in compiling the company’s budget, and employ strategies to safeguard assets and stock. He/ She will compile financial reports, and control financial policies and procedures and will team up with management to implement business strategies.

 Job brief

The Chief Operation Officer is responsible and accountable for the smooth running of Andinet Education and Training PLC and its subsidiaries.  

  • Reporting to the CEO, the COO will work in collaboration with the other members of the senior management team will oversee the progress toward their goals, coaching and developing them as professional, and
  • Building overall team size and capacity, moving forward as needed.
  • The COO will play a critical role in developing the infrastructure, policies, and practices required to support company’s strategic plan
  • Assist as needed in development of policy tools and infrastructure
  • To set the overall development of vision, Mission and strategy
  • Ensure strong execution of operational plans such that the organization maximizes opportunities, meets its goals, and significantly grows statewide and regional funding while building long-term sustainability
  • Develop systems and practices for tight integration of development and finance,
  • Oversee the fiscal management of the organization, including the budgeting and audit process, through supervision of the Manager of Accounting and Finance and Human Resource

Responsibilities

The COO is responsible including but not limited to:

  • Working together with key participants to compile the budget.
  • Spearheading strategies to steer the company’s future in a positive direction.
  • Driving the company’s operating capabilities to surpass customer satisfaction and retention, and company goals.
  • Controlling company costs, and introducing tactical initiatives to address theft and potential losses.
  • Monitoring invoices, money handling procedures, accounting, and bank processes.
  • Preparing timely and accurate financial performance reports.
  • Overseeing marketing initiatives and implementing better business practices.
  • Delegating responsibilities to ensure staff members grow as capable participants.
  • Completing performance reviews in a prudent manner.
  • Assessing and implementing improved processes and new technologies, and collaborating with management regarding the implementation of these improvements.

Job Requirements

Requirement

  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or relevant role
  • Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, marketing etc.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage personnel
  • PhD with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Educational Planning and Management, or Business Administration, or Planning and Programing, or Human Resources Management, or Project Management, or Economics or any other related field.
  • M.A or MB.A with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience in Educational Planning and Management, or Business Administration, or Planning and Programing, or Human Resources Management, or Project Management, or Economics or any other related field.
  • B.A with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Educational Planning and Management, or Business Administration, or Planning and Programing, or Human Resources Management, or Project Management, or Economics or any other related field.
  • Qualified applicant must submit a legitimate proof of evidence that he/she is
  • Fluent in English and Amharic writing and speaking skills (knowledge of other domestic and international languages is an advantage);
  • Capable of working independently using Information and Communication Technology *ICT);
  • Has his/her own car and with a valid driving license;
  • A person with high moral standard and committed to make a difference in AET’s subsidiary academic institutions.
