Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure conformance to quality standards, and sampling, analysis and reporting procedures.
- Monitor and review reliability of analytical results and support quality control teams in the interpretation of unexpected results.
- Oversee the laboratory, quality measurement and control equipment are functional and maintained in good working condition.
- Follow up the compliance of products against specifications and standards prior to their shipment.
- Initiate appropriate actions when products are not complying with specifications and standards.
- Ensure the quality of products and their compliance with the standard and contractual requirements.
- Plan and establish work schedules and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Lead the achievement of key performance indicators in the field of product quality and quality systems related agreed targets for the overall plant performance.
- Manage the process of analyzing quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.
- Stop production if serious product defects are present.
- Instruct staff in quality control, analytical procedures, quality guidelines, testing procedures, or ways to eliminate non conformity.
- Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and specify sampling procedures to be used at these points.
- Identify quality problems or areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Review quality documentation necessary for regulatory submissions and inspections.
- Evaluate new testing and sampling methodologies or technologies to determine usefulness.
- Confer with marketing and sales departments to define client requirements and expectations.
- Ensure safety, accident & housekeeping preventions implemented well in the workplace.
- Ensure the implementation of all government (Federal and Legal) regulations and requirements.
- Plan, promote and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability;
- Manage research activities, prepare action plan and Prepare status report for the top management.
- Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
Generic Duties of the Position:
- Develop and implement the Department’s strategic and operational plans and objectives.
- Develop, approve and monitor the Department’s budgets.
- Identify human resources requirements of the Department and develop plan for meeting the requirements.
- Lead the development, implementation and review of departmental policies and procedures.
- Review, approve and submit Departmental reports to relevant organs.
- Support the development of subordinates through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, on-going performance dialogue and feedback.
- Manage disciplinary concerns of the Department’s staff.
- Represent the Company in external relationships related with the Department.
- Participate in group decision making processes by forming part of different groups/committees.
Job Requirements
MSc in Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering with six (6) years of direct/relevant experience out of which three (3) years in a managerial position Or BSc degree in Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering with eight (8) years of direct/relevant experience of which four (4) years in a managerial position.
