BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation and development support to vulnerable people and communities over 30 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refuguees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the HR/Admin Officer, the HR/Admin Assistant manage and update employee database, and provide general administrative and human resources support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Manage and update HR files and Database.
- Record and update employee data on Workday and HRMIS.
- Performing file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained for both existing and new employees
- Overseeing the completion of compensation and benefit documentation
- Provision of staff identification cards, business cards, mobile telephone scratch cards (monthly), and other facilities.
- Focal person to ensure onboarding for new employees is completed and the new employee filled the onboarding survey
- Drafts letters, memos, and short reports of administrative nature as required.
- Maintain schedule and coordinate calendar activities
- Assist with day to day operations of the HR functions and duties
- Requesting, receiving and releasing office consumables such as cleaning materials for office consumption and meetings
Job Requirements
Minimum requirements/Qualification
- College diploma or Degree in Human resource management, Management, public administration or other related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience for diploma holders and 1 year for degree holders.
- Minimum of six months Intern ship service with IRC
- NGO experience and a training/certificate for Basic Clerical Works is an added advantage.
- Strong organizational skills
- Hands on experience working with MS Office, and HR software (HRIS or HRMS)
- Basic English spoken and writing.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- A proven track recording of executing HR-related tasks
- General knowledge of various employment laws and practices
- High ethical standards and ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality
