Job Description

Employment Type: Definite Period

Job Purpose;

Implement the agricultural development activities related to crop production specifically horticulture, fruit production and cereal production activities as well as livestock production and provide technical assistance on demonstration sites, for targeted households in the refugee camp and in the host communities.  

Main Duties & Responsibilities; 

Project planning and implementation:

  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals as requested
  • Introduce and promote techniques on crop production such as backyard gardening, vegetables, fruits production and cereal production as well as livestock production for refugee households and host communities,
  • Design and implement the modalities of backyard gardening, vegetables, fruits production and cereal production as well as livestock production for target HHs
  • Ensure the timely implementation of planned agricultural activities
  • Facilitate the supply of goods and inputs the project has committed to the concerned target groups
  • Build the capacity of target HHs and host communities through training, exposure visits
  • Assess challenges and build technical capacity of nutrition staff and target groups
  • Educate the refugees and host community households on the utilization of vegetables for food and nutrition security
  • Establish and maintain demonstration sites on backyard gardening, vegetables and fruits and cereal production in order to demonstrate the target households

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning:

  • Monitor the works carried out by the refugee Households and provide proper extension advise and ensure they use the required agronomic practices
  • Closely supervise and follow up the day to day activities of different livelihoods components of project
  • Facilitate and organize experience sharing among best performing and low performing households
  • Document/draw best practices of agronomic activities for future programming
  • Ensure that learning are captured and replicated 

Reporting, Coordination and Networking:

  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarter and annual reports
  • Work closely with the Concern nutrition team at all-time Emergency Response.

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • MSC or BSc Degree in General Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing, Dry Land Agriculture, Agronomy or related fields of study from a recognized University and minimum of 2 years for MSC and 4 years related experience for BSc preferably in humanitarian non-government organizations.
  • Specific knowledge and experience on apiculture (honeybee management) is desirable
  • Knowledge of the local language (Agnuak) is mandatory
