In Ethiopia, CRS has a long and rich history of providing emergency relief and development assistance to the people of Ethiopia since 1958. At present, CRS/Ethiopia implements multiple projects through different partner organizations. CRS/Ethiopia has a highly diverse portfolio ranging from very large food-supported emergency response to cutting edge development programs. The current CRS/Ethiopia budget stands at $100 million with funding from the U.S. Government, UN agencies, private foundations, individual donors, and CRS private funds.

Job Summary:

As a member of the Shashamane Field Office team, you will monitor and report on all operations activities, specifically finance and administrative in the Shashemene field office, in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project and program operations consistently apply best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Support the implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan and as requested by the program and operations in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Support the overall administrative needs of Shashamane Field Office staff including the optimal utilization and maintenance of the organization’s assets and resources including computers, vehicles, furniture, supplies and other equipment, logistical arrangement for staff and visitors, and procurement of materials and equipment in a transparent and accountable manner. With the CRS Ethiopia Country Program office, take an active role in inventory planning and management, accounting and recordkeeping of all properties, inventories and fixed assets. 
  • Promote, uphold and model a commitment to the efficient use of agency and donor resources. Help ensure compliance with the donor grants, including financial tracking and oversight of budgets and assets (vehicles, etc.). Maintain files of required financial compliance documentation; review documentation for potential issues; make recommendations to the Senior Management Team for improvements and action to be taken.
  • Collect information on staff capacity needs and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
  • Effectively manage talent and supervise. Manage team dynamics and staff well-being. Provide coaching, strategically tailor individual development plans, and complete performance management for direct reports. Monitor and assess performance to ensure adequate capacity for successful support of high quality field office operational activities and programming.
  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.

Job Requirements

  • Typical Background, Experience & Requirements: 

Education and Experience

  • MA Degree in a related field of study
  • 2 years relevant experience for MA or 4 years relevant experience for BA degree
  • Experience in the field of Admin and Finance and for an NGO would be a plus. 
  • Additional education may substitute for some experience. 
  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement. 
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred. 
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 

 Personal Skills

  • Observation, active listening, and analysis skills with the ability to make sound judgment
  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
  • Attention to details, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
  • Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented
