Job Description

Position: Community Development Facilitator (8)  

Location    Plan International Ethiopia Afar Emergency Response Area 

Plan International is an independent non-profit organization that advances children’s wellbeing and equality for girls. Working in building powerful partnerships for children for over 75 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries. Plan International is a global organization that works side by side with communities in 50 developing countries to end the cycle of poverty for children and their families.   

Plan International is currently updating its Emergency roster sheet for Afar and is looking for Community Development Facilitator (8) to play a vital role in our mission to archives lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived children in developing countries. 

Accountability

  • Ensured and facilitate the implementation of adolescent girls’ and young women’s economic, social and political empowerment and their role as change agents for gender equality and social cohesion program implementation at the communities level.
  • Ensure marginalized girls to have significantly improved learning outcomes and have transited to formal education and training or development
  • Ensured social capital and networks available for marginalized girls learning and development
  • Ensured increased opportunities for marginalized girls exist unsafe forms of work through formal education and accesses to financial literacy and entrepreneur skills
  • Ensure the project intervention is to provide access to education to girls in disadvantaged areas
  • Ensure the gender constraints that can lead to their dropping out of schools or poor performance are minimized or eliminated
  • Facilitate, mobilize and support communities and children’s engagement in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Plan’s programs and projects at village level with in the target beneficiaries
  • Facilitate and establish smooth working relationships between Plan, children, families, community leadership, government extension staff and other stakeholders at district and village levels ensure the implementation of Plan’s she leads and economic empowerment project delivery .The purpose of this position is to support adolescent girls’ and young women’s economic, social and political empowerment and their role as change agents for gender equality and social cohesion

Job Requirements

Profession/Technical and Vocational Training School (10 + 3) graduate in Community Development, Sociology and other related fields.

  • Previous experience in program related work at community level

 Desirable

  • Knowledge of Economic empowerment Program, gender equality, girls’ rights and their relevance in Child Protection.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and problem solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills
