Job Description
HelpAge International(website) is the secretariat to the HelpAge Global Network, which brings together a wide range of organizations and individuals working to promote the rights and meet the needs of older women and men, nationally and/or internationally. At the core of this network, are civil society members, a group of civil society organizations working with older people around the world. These organizations share a vision of a world in which all older people are valued, and lead dignified, healthy and secure lives. HelpAge has been operating in Ethiopia since 1992 and has been involved on thematic sectors including social protection, health and wellbeing, emergency response, capacity building of partners and advocacy efforts.
Since 2014, HelpAge International has been responding to the needs of south Sudanese refugees’ influx with special focus on specific needs of older people and PWDs in Gambella region. These humanitarian response project will be implemented with full engagement of older people and other persons with specific needs and in close consultation and coordination with ARRA, UNHCR and other humanitarian actors involved in various sectors of refugee responses.

Responsible to: Senior Humanitarian Programme Officer
Length of Contract: Six-month fixed term (with possibility of extension)
Key Relationships: Internal: Humanitarian Program Manager, HPO, Head of Finance and Operations,
Finance Manager; Logistic support; Technical Programme Officers & Managers
The Program Intern/Volunteer will be part of the Addis Ababa based Humanitarian Programme team led by the HPM and contributing to facilitating project agreement with stakeholders, documentation of important communications and assist in organizing or attending programme events. The person may be expected to travel to project sites and will work with an experienced and dynamic work environment and would be able to learn significantly from the assignment. This is a good opportunity for those who want to gain exposure to programs related to Humanitarian response and work with an international NGO focusing on the most vulnerable groups in different set up, i.e. climate change affected communities, internally Displaced peoples and refugee. The intern/volunteer must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, and have basic knowledge of the country’s humanitarian situation and strong information management skill. The ideal candidate will have experience in working in a fact paced office environment, especially in a programmatic capacity in the humanitarian program.
