Job Description

Job Summary

The major responsibilities of the Senior Researcher 1 are to organize socioeconomic datasets; prepare proposals and terms of references (TORs) for research, training and policy forums; conduct research using primary and secondary data to produce research reports, offer training; engage in organizing events; review publishable manuscripts; prepare memorandum of understandings (MoUs) to be signed between EEA and other collaborators; and coordinates research and training activities of the EEA.

Specific Duties

  • Prepares research proposals to be undertaken by the EEA;
  • Prepares TORs for research, training, and dialogue forums and MoUs to be singed between EEA and its partners;
  • Conducts research on his/her specialization aligned to the thematic focus of the EEA;
  • Prepares grant proposals to mobilize financial and non-financial resources for undertaking research and training activities and organizing policy forums and other events;
  • Prepares standard training modules for training workshops organized by the EEA;
  • Offers training to stakeholders in his/her area of specialization;
  • Identifies relevant thematic areas of research and training aligned to the strategic objectives of the EEA;
  • Organizes primary and secondary data to enhance the economic database of the Associating;
  • Analyzes primary and secondary data to produce research reports;
  • Prepares reports on the major activities of the EEA under his/her scope;
  • Supervises and evaluates research projects undertaken by the EEA and in collaboration with partners;
  • Provides advice and technical assistance to partners in his area of specialization;
  • Reviews theoretical and empirical literature and analyzes data to prepare research reports, forecast future trends, and to stay abreast of economic changes;
  • Prepares policy and research briefs on outputs of research, training, and policy forums;
  • Reports about progress of projects under his/her responsibility to his/her immediate supervisor,
  • Identifies potential partners and partnership opportunities for collaboration;
  • Reviews publishable manuscripts of the EEA as required;
  • Follows up all matters concerning the research division on national and international policy research developments;
  • Engages in dissemination of research outputs and other information generated by the EEA;
  • Evaluates the performance appraisal of his/her subordinates periodically or as the need arises; and
  • Performs other duties as required and as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor,

Job Requirement

  • Education: PhD Degree in fields related to Economics.
  • Experience:
  • At least four years of relevant work experience in research and related activities after PhD degree;
  • At least three publications in related fields;
  • Fertile skill in using statistical/econometric software packages including Stata, DASP, and GAMS; and
  • Excellent skill in spoken and written English.

Place of work: Addis Ababa, around CMC for both positions.

Salary: As per the salary scale of EEA which is attractive with additional benefits. It is also negotiable depending on the professional profile and expertise of the applicant.
