Purpose of the position:
To closely supervise drilling operations and pumping test works in the Drilling Operations Team.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead drilling crew, facilitate drilling operations at site level, conduct site hydrogeological verifications; supervise drilling operations and pumping test works on site.
- Develop and maintain hydro geological and lithological records with full description, prepare a full well completion report of the completed water wells together with the GPS locations of wells including well data, casing arrangement and similar onsite observations during drilling;
- Conduct field monitoring and provide onsite technical assistance to the drilling crews, advice chief driller and chief pump technician;
- Review ground water development project documents and inspect water well drilling sites before commencing the operation;
- Analyze pumping test data and recommend the appropriate electromechanical equipment;
- Prepare monthly, biannual and annual progress reports of the drilling operation;
- Promote major cross cutting themes including environment, gender, protection, disability and peace building
Job Requirements
Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:
- Educational level required: B.Sc. in geology/Applied geology or M.Sc. in hydrogeology
- Technical Training qualifications required: Professional technical skill desired in drilling operation, i.e. proven/well-experienced in water well drilling supervision.
- Experience: For B.Sc 6 years experience in supervision of drilling operations.
- Preferred: M.Sc Hydrogeology and 4 years experience in supervision of drilling operations.
- Other team management exposure and computer knowledge (Word and, Excel).
Working Environment / Conditions:
Travel: 80% Domestic travel is required
