Purpose of the position
This Job is required for the overall handling of WASH projects in design or design review, procurement, managing own-force construction, construction supervision and contract administration, in all aspects at head office and field for the successful, efficient, economical, qualified implementation of WASH and other Infrastructure projects.
S/he will be responsible for achieving expected quality water supply project implementation. The Water supply design specialist will work with the WASH team to the best of most economical and efficient design and implementation of WASH projects.
Major Responsibilities:
- Undertake study & design work of the CIFF Funded all types of WASH and Civil works within the designated geographic area of operation; Review and conduct detail investigation on water resource development and other civil works projects sites before commencement of the construction; Develop and regularly update a detailed project work plan guiding the project implementation
- Design using AUTOCAD, WATER CAD and Other Engineering Software, and/ or Approve all designs to be efficient ,cost effective, inclusive, innovative and appropriate to the local conditions;
- Collect drawings/designs, specifications, bill of quantities from concerned government offices and review/verify technical compliance; Engage in the design review of documents produced by government bodies in consultation with relevant partners.
- Prepare bill of quantities, specification and cost estimate for water resource development and other civil work projects.
- Ensure the study and design of WASH projects are in compliance with community needs, donor's requirements, WV and government policies and national standards
- Ensure proper study/design documentation & reporting are in place to be shared for concerned ones;
- Promote major cross cutting themes including environment, gender, protection, disability, peace building and and Ensure the integration of water, sanitation and hygiene activities implementation.
Job Requirements
Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:
- Qualification required: MSc or BSc Degree in Water Resource Engineering, Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering and other related fields;
- Experience: 7 yrs for M.Sc and 9 yrs for B.Sc with minimum of 4 years on relevant experience in WASH in an international NGO or other big construction organization with special focus on design and contract administration.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Effective in written and verbal communication in English.
- WASH Program Management, designing of big water supply systems, contract administration and construction supervision
- Have experience on electrification and solar system design and implementation.
- Other team management exposure and basic computer knowledge (word, Excel, lotus note) and advanced knowledge of current up-to-date design software.
- Experience of solar Energy system design and Implementation
- NGO work experience
- Special training on design, Construction Supervision and Contract Administration
- AUTOCAD, WATER CAD, and other Engineering Software
- Training of Project Management
Duration of the project: Four months
Location: Head Office
Working Environment / Conditions:
- Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field
