Job Summary
Responsible for supporting enhanced and effective integration and mainstreaming of gender and youth considerations in the Emergency response project. The position holder will support planning, implementation and monitoring of gender specific and integration interventions. He/she will facilitate and support appropriate consideration of Gender and Youth strategies and approaches, timely and quality data collection, record keeping and documentation to ensure gender and youth challenges and concerns are incorporated in emergency response project.
Principal Responsibilities
Key Result #. General Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assist annual planning of project operational woredas and consolidate the planned activities into detailed implementation plans
- Conduct periodic assessment, identify protection concerns for women and girls, risks of GBV, points of service and support for survivors, and appropriate priorities and approaches for programming.
- Act with key project actors to addresses women and girls’ protection through relevant information dissemination, advocacy, trainings and coordination with other sectors and partners for MHPSS & GBV mainstreaming
- Lead the establishment and delivery of key psychosocial support for survivors of GBV, safe spaces, and support for medical response.
- Actively engage with other staff for gender and youth considerations throughout the various sectors of the project
- Coordinate and organize capacity building and learning events (e.g. training, workshops meetings, experience sharing, etc.) facilitated for FH staff and stakeholders
- Follow up if gender and youth activities are implemented as per the approved annual activity and budget plan and provide feedback/update to his/her immediate supervisor and projects
- Follow up and assist for effective applicability of gender and youth related systems (strategies, guidelines, approaches and sectoral gender integration work plan) set in place and provide feedback and update to Gender and Youth Specialist and projects
- Assist and involve in design and production of Gender and Youth SBCC manual (picture flip-books), audio and video spot messages
- Facilitate administrative and logistics issue related to purchase, printing, capacity building, monitoring and related issues
- Assist in the establishment of linkage and progress tracking mechanism and tools and follow up with applicability to measure achievements towards intended result
- Participate actively in designing and conducting gender specific and sectoral surveys, assessments, formative and researches to ensure consideration of gender and youth issues, collection of sex and age disaggregated data, gender responsive data analysis and reporting
- Give guidance and closely supervise if project team is regularly recording required data, documenting best practices, learnings and lessons to be shared among different partners and stockholders.
- Support in organizational and project level knowledge sharing events;
- Coordinate and involve in collection and consolidation of data for gender integration indicators with required frequency
- Ensure that data from different sources (monitoring, survey, assessment etc.) are used in the planning, design and formulation of project and program strategies.

- Extremely flexible, and the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
Experience
- 5 years related experience in a relevant emergency response project Preferably in INGO Setting
Education/Certifications
- MA in Development & Gender Studies, Sociology or relevant field of study or relevant field of Study.
Distinguishing Competencies

- Training Experience in refugee response, Peace building and cohabitation.
- Ability & Willingness to live in areas of limited facilities.
- Physical fitness to function in a difficult environment

- Provide adequate time to staff to participate in gender sensitivity workshops and related events.
- Through observation, interviews, and spot-checks, ensure that the staff planning process is gender sensitive.
- Build a better gender balance in staffing through affirmative action.
- Observe if women staff are as involved as men in high-profile activities such as interaction with visitors and chairing meetings, and take corrective action if warranted.
- Encourage female staff to participate in external networks (local and regional), as well as seminars and cross visits.
- Facilitate open and regular discussions with staff on about the work environment, policies, and values convenient to gender issue
Safety & Security Responsibility
- Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;
- Visiting project Offices and operational areas periodically to meet staff and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures;
- Explains to staffs the reasoning behind the organization’s safety and security policies and procedures;
- Organizing local training sessions, such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Defensive Driving for staff members. If possible, he/she should conduct briefing and training sessions himself/herself;
- Ensures that safety and security objectives are added to performance reviews and evaluations of all staff members;
- Encourages staff to adopt safe and secure practices. Ensuring that updated personnel information related to safety (Record of Emergency Data) and security management are kept in Human Resources;
