Company Overview

ASCOM MINING ETHIOPIA PLC (AME) is established in Ethiopia since November 2008 and has been exploring for gold and base metals in Western Ethiopia, Benishangul Gumuz National Regional State, Asosa Zone, Ethiopia. The company has successfully carried out modern and effective mineral exploration programs at its Asosa concession and has discovered the Dish Mountain Orogenic gold deposit and the Abetselo VMS Au & Cu deposit. AME has also identified a number of peripheral targets that are in close proximity to the Dish Mountain Gold Deposit to be treated as additional resources to a global Dish Mountain Resource.

AME has completed a scoping study, a JORC Compliant Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) and Pre-feasibility studies, all to the highest internationally recognised standards. Currently, AME is working on feasibility study to obtain mining license from Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. It is currently conducting exploration activities in Dul – Ashshire for gold and basemetals.

AME has been using foreign consultants and local professional and support staff to carry out all the exploration and feasibility study. The Company currently has created job opportunity for more than 150 Ethiopians.

Ascom Mining Ethiopia PLC is inviting qualified and energetic female candidates to apply for the Assistant Laboratory Supervisor and Laboratory Assistant positions. Both positions located at its Dish Mountain Gold Project site in Kurmuk Warada.

Job Summary: - 

The Laboratory Assistant will carry out the daily operational tasks at the sample preparation laboratory.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Adhering to standard operating procedures;
• Ensuring the quality of the manufactured product;
• Achieving weekly and monthly production targets;
• Operating laboratory equipment (drying oven, jaw crusher, pulverizing mill, dust extraction system, compressed dry air system, weighing scales);
• Maintaining laboratory equipment (drying oven, jaw crusher, pulverizing mill, dust extraction system, compressed dry air system, weighing scales);
• Maintaining strict cleanliness of the laboratory and laboratory office before and after each working shift;
• Packaging and consigning samples for dispatch;
• Clear communication with the camp field logistics officer to ensure equipment is functioning well and properly maintained.

General

• Working language: Amharic/English;
• Terms of Employment: Permanent with three-month provisional period;
• Accommodation, ablution and catering services will be provided at the Dish Mountain Camp while on shift;
• Number required: 1 (one) female regional resident

Qualification Requirement

Education:

• Diploma from Technical school or High School complete

Skills: 

• Scientifically inclined;
• Highly numerate;
• Good command of Amharic and English languages (Rotana an asset);
• Good fit to the DM camp culture and comfortable in a field camp environment

Work Experience:

• None required.
