Position: Shelter Coordinator
Reports to: Area Program Manager
Supervision of: Shelter Officers, WASH Officers, Construction Team Leader
Duty station: Gambella
Travel: 50% within Gambella Region
Duration and type of contract: 12 Months with possible extension
Being an employee of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ethiopia, the Support Coordinator is expected to represent NRC in a responsible manner and always act in accordance with NRC’s Code of Conduct and the four organizational values: Dedicated, innovative, inclusive and accountable.
Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the Shelter & Infrastructure Coordinator position is to lead in designing Shelter & Infrastructure Projects in Gambella region of Ethiopia, be accountable for quality and timely programme delivery including budgeting and monitoring against the plan, assess programme risks and recommend mitigation strategies, comply with donor regulations. The post holder is expected to demonstrate leadership skills, motivate his/her team and deliver towards achieving the organisational vision of serving the refugees and host communities in Gambella region of Ethiopia.
Generic responsibilities:
· Line management for Shelter, WASH & Construction project staff in Gambella
· Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
· Contribute to the development of Gambella Area and Shelter CC strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant Shelter & Construction projects.
· Coordinate and manage Shelter & Construction project implementation activities, budget and project documentation in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements.
· Implement Shelter & Construction SoPs and ensure high technical quality of projects
· Provide regular progress reports to the Area Programme Manager
· Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
· Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
· Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
· Promote the rights of refugees in line with the advocacy strategy.
