Job Summary
Under general supervision by the MSIE designated Area Program Office, the incumbent performs nursing duties ensuring efficient delivery and client care in accordance with accepted standard medical practice and professional codes of conduct.
DUTIES/TASKS
General
- Provides nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to clients based on client’s assessment and care planning procedures
- Performs SRH interventions such as client counselling, family planning service provision, comprehensive abortion care, taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques, ensuring infection control
- Administers medication and observes and documents therapeutic effects
- Provides pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care
- Monitors clients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of SRH interventions and consults with appropriate members of outreach team
- Provides reproductive health/family planning education to individuals and the communities.
Outreach Clinical Nurse Role
- Willingness and able to provides comprehensive family planning and comprehensive abortion care services
- Provides family planning counselling services to make clients to reach informed voluntary decision making
- Provides safe abortion services based upon Ethiopian Legal Abortion Requirements
- Provides counselling on preventing unwanted pregnancies; correct use of pregnancy termination procedures;
- Prepares all surgical instruments, sets and medical supplies required for operation in accordance with accepted standards,
- Assists SRH clinical officers in SRH- FP/SA surgical procedures as a scrub nurse and makes the instruments ready for other operations as required.
- Ensures the maintenance of a high level of standard;
- Prepares clients for surgery by cleaning the clients' operative areas.
- Assists in surgery by laying out instruments, setting up equipment, assisting surgical teams with gowns and gloves and passing instruments to surgeons
- Cleans and sterilizes the operating room and instruments.
- Provides clients related care and comfort
- Carries messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments
- Prepare room set up and participate in pre post SRH-FP & CA counselling services
Related Duties/Tasks
- Ensures the maintenance of high-level quality standards and applies universal precautions to prevent infection (e.g. Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS) from blood or other body fluids of Clients
- Accounts for all assets under his/her custody during regular stock taking and audit as and when required.
- Ensures proper handling, and issuance of supplies, medical equipment’s and other outreach medical and non-medical equipment’s items as per MSIE assets management procedures;
- Making official request and receive OR related supplies from the appropriate store and responsible for received supplies and equipment’s
- Receives and inspects all OR related materials and reconciles with service provisions
- Prepares and submits periodic reports as required.
- Participate in demand creation activity
- Made close follow up for post procedure clients
- Maintain inventory of supplies; accounts for all assets under his/her custody during regular stock taking and audit as and when required.
- Prepares and submits periodic reports as required.
- Handling client’s belongingness properly
- Monitor all supplies and medical equipment s availability
- Performs related tasks as required by area program manager’s

Qualification Requirements
Education:
Experience
- Two Years’ experience for BSC nurse and four years for Diploma nurse.
Skills, Attitudes and Attributes
- Good Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Conscious of Government, MSI and MSIE regulations
- Ability to make logical and timely decisions
- Counselling skill
- Awareness of concepts and strategies of quality care
- Pro-choice for SRH services
