Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from the current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role to the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry, but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega scale projects.

To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise of three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.

EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real-estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro- Mechanical Solution, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.

EEIG Construction is launched with the vision of being the best construction company in Ethiopia with a strategy of Timeously executing high-end complex projects, by utilizing proactive management skills as a Design and Build Contractor in order to achieve an optimum return and aspiring to be a competitive and preferred choice that can replace the current dependence on international contractors and deliver excellence. EEIG Construction will uphold Courage, Integrity, Reliability, Value for its People and Innovation as its core values.

As its first project – EEIG is going to build a 30 Floors High rise Headquarter Building in the city center of Addis Ababa – that will be designed and built by its inhouse consultancy and construction business units.

Role holder will be responsible to plan and coordinate the end to end EEIG Constructions compensation plans and benefit programs. You will work closely with human resources team, pull together benefit and compensation-related policies, and ensure these comply with current local legislation, supporting the recruitment process, and manage day-to-day compensation and benefits-related activities.

To be successful as a Compensation and Benefits Manager, you should be able to develop competitive and cost-efficient programs that will assist with employee retention and attract top talents. A top-notch candidate should have extensive experience leading compensation and benefits programs, be meticulous, have outstanding business acumen and have sound understanding of compensation analysis along with excellent decision-making skills.

Top Role Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing new compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures to attract, retain and motivate employees.
  • Conducts job evaluation to ascertain scope of employees’ experience and responsibilities requirements and advise on remuneration packages.
  • Managing salary structure and benefit packages creation and maintenance by doing comparative analysis by industry and market.
  • Developing incentive, employee wellness, retirement plans and performance management programs as and when deemed necessary.
  • Establish a healthy balance between employee remuneration and the company’s financial performance and give HRD and management sound advice.
  • Responsible for offering package to external new joiner and internal employees who are promoted, moving roles etc by getting approval from HRD.
  • Contributing company data to compensation surveys as and when deemed necessary, analyzing results of compensation surveys while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Predicting future trends to steer company in a positive direction.
  • Assist HRD in tracking and managing total overhead budget the business area and the non-staff related costs. Monitor the costs against business targets & budget.
  • Supporting the HR team with recruitment and talent management activities.
  • Build capability of HR team on compensation and benefit programs.
  • Collaborating with HR team and daily operations related to compensation and benefits activities.
  • Preparing budgets, reports, and presentations.
  • Ensuring all programs, policies, and procedures compliance with relevant laws and regulations

Job Requirements

Job Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience as HR Generalist or in a related role with minimum 3 years as a Compensation and Benefits or Reward Manager.

Experience and Skills requirement:

  • Extensive knowledge of benefits and compensation programs, policies and procedures.
  • Superior analytical ability. Expertise in financial/ statistical analysis and spreadsheet modelling. 
  • Sound knowledge of HR practices, and applicable Ethiopian labor law and tax legislation.
  • · Demonstrated ability to lead projects and positively manage change.
  • Experience in managing budgets.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
