Position Title:        Project Officer – Safeguarding and Protection

Duty Station:        CRS/Addis Ababa Office

Employment Term:   Indefinite period contingent upon funding of the program

Reports To:          Program Manager - Safeguarding and Protection

Job Summary:

As a member of the Safeguarding and Protection unit, you will support CRS Ethiopia Safeguarding and Protection activities. You will provide assistance in different capacity building activities to mitigate safeguarding and protection risks and ensure safeguarding and protection concerns are addressed as per CRS safeguarding policy. 

 Job Responsibilities:

  •  Support the safeguarding and protection unit in different capacity strengthening and awareness raising activities to enhance staff and partners capacity on safeguarding and protection.
  • Participate in different safeguarding and protection assessments to better ensure safeguarding and protection concerns in different programs and projects.
  • Support the country program in setting up and managing hotline system as feedback and response mechanism for protection issues.
  • Collaborate with safeguarding and protection team in designing IEC and training materials on safeguarding and protection issues.
  • Support in the development of TOR and reports for different safeguarding and protection activities
  • Work together with safeguarding and protection manager to ensure protection mainstreaming in all CRS programs.
  • Participate in the development of protection mainstreaming tools, checklist and guidance for various CRS projects.
  • Participate in different safeguarding and protection meetings and networks representing CRS.
  • Provide any support for safeguarding and protection unit as may be requested by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

  • BA/ MA degree in gender, Law or Social Sciences
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience for MA degree and four (4) years for BA degree 
  • Proven experience in safeguarding, protection, gender, or law
  • Fluency in English and the local language
  • Able to work on a high level with Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • A previous experience in an international NGOs and/or institution is a strong advantage

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment with good interpersonal skills
  • Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
  • Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
  • Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented

Required/Desired Foreign Language: English

Travel Required: Willingness to travel and spend his/her 40 to 50% time in the field and away from the post to ensure quality programming.
