About GOAL 

GOAL’s mission is to work with the most vulnerable communities to help them respond to and recover from humanitarian crises, and to assist them to build transcendent solutions to mitigate poverty and vulnerability.

GOAL is a non-for profit organization that has been working in Ethiopia for over 30 years, towards ensuring the poorest and most vulnerable in our world and those affected by humanitarian crises have access to the fundamental rights of life, including but not limited to adequate shelter, food and livelihoods, water and sanitation, nutrition, healthcare and education. GOAL implements a range of multi-sectoral development, resilience, recovery and humanitarian responses programmes by being sensitive to cross-cutting issues including gender, accountably, child protection, HIV/AIDS. Currently, we work with pastoralist, agro-pastoral, pastoral dropouts, rural small holder farmers, rural/urban youth and street children to respond to humanitarian crises and build resilience in Ethiopia working closely with local communities, local government, donors and other key actors.

ABOUT THE POSITON:

The TSFP Nurse will be responsible for the overall implementation of the TSFP/BSFP in Dollo Zone_at warder Somali Region.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY/DUTIES

  • Plan and organize TSFP/BSFP at designated distribution sites in discussion with SCPO.
  • Conduct screening in targeted areas to collect total beneficiary figures and confirm/amend log’s requests as necessary.
  • Schedule the distribution plan with the Woreda and Kebele administrative and health officials.
  • Work with the community mobilisers and registrar ensure engagement of community leaders, key community figures, community groups in facilitating the distribution.
  • Work with SCPO/CMAM Nurses to improve their ability to recognize signs of malnutrition, provide appropriate education to beneficiaries to help prevent malnutrition and refer individuals as appropriate.
  • Teach community mobilisers how to disseminate key education messages within their communities and propagate messaging through other community channels.
  • Ensure appropriate referrals take place to and from other MoH supported sites (if operational).
  • Re-define team composition as necessary – either during distributions (to avoid bottlenecks) or after discussion during team meetings.
  • Work closely with the teams to ensure all eligible children are registered correctly.
  • Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the teams, including admission, discharge and transfer to and from the various components of the programme.
  • Ensure referals and appropriate treatment according to the agreed protocols.
  • Monitor TSFP/BSFP rations and ensure they are distributed fairly and equally between beneficiaries.
  • Review the forms completed by staff to ensure completion, accuracy and coherence
  • Ensure adequate availability of all food supplies for each distribution, input into creation and maintenance of a monthly distribution plan and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned with SCPOs and logistics team and report weekly and monthly report to the SCPO of each district.
  • Submit daily BDRSS reports including tally forms for the TSFP/BSFP per distribution site
  • Report any progress and any problems in a timely manner.
  • Regularly update kebele and woreda administration and health officials on the project Respect the dignity of the beneficiaries, carers and members of the community
  • Assist in any other tasks when required              

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in clinical nursing and related field and having experience in TSFP/BSFP distribution for six months to one year
  • Have a demonstrated experience in emergency nutrition programme, notably TSFP/BSFP and running other feeding programme
  • Have experience in MUAC screening, Case Identification and good knowledge of management of acute malnutrition (National Guideline)

Desirable qualities, skills and competences:

  • Strong knowledge of managing acute malnutrition as per the national Guideline
  • Good knowledge, understanding and implementation TSFP/BSFP
  • Ability to plan and organize work to meet individual, team and programme objective,
  • Training and facilitation skill for community workers and FDAs
  • Fluency of local language (Somaligna) is mandatory.
  • Ability to effectively liaise with government, community leaders and other stakeholders,
  • Fosters working in teams & teamwork spirit.
  • Very good knowledge and practice of computer application,
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local language,
  • Continually looks to improve personal skill, knowledge and work hence contribute to capacity building within the team and organization,
  • Willing to travel to remote areas and to camp in the field, ability to work flexibly including weekends and willingness to travel and work in rural locations and live-in basic conditions.
  • Flexible and creative approach; keen to take initiative where appropriate
  • Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibilities,
  • Familiarity to local is mandatory culture.
  • Passionate, strongly dedicated and highly committed to work for the improvement of the poor community
