Job Description

Purpose of the position:

The position will be responsible to lead the hydrogeologists in the groundwater water potential assessment for water supply source. He/She shall lead and conduct geophysical survey to identify potential groundwater sites. Ensure the groundwater development complies with community needs, donor’s requirements, WV and government policies and national standards;

The position will contribute in ensuring well productivity and work quality.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead and engage in detail groundwater source assessment for water supply projects in partnership with hydrogeologists, respective government offices, and CPOs/Aps.
  • Carry out Geophysical survey to identify potential groundwater localities for water well drilling.
  • Review and evaluate feasibility study documents, verify drilling sites at field level prior to drilling implementation, conduct field monitoring, and onsite technical assistance.
  • Ensure the selected sites and groundwater development complies with community needs, donor’s requirements, WV and government policies and national standards.
  • Develop necessary formats and database for completed water supply projects; Make necessary follow up for completed studies, organize reports for completed studies and report to the Civil and Water Works Manager;
  • Develop and regularly update a detailed project work plan guiding the project implementation and ensure the project team to monitor project progress uses this.
  • Engage in and ensure that appropriate human resource performance monitoring mechanisms with proper coaching and mentoring are practiced to enhance smooth staff relations and accountability..
  • Promote major cross cutting themes including environment, gender, child protection, disability and peace building.

Job Requirements

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

  • BSc in Geology/Applied Geology/Earth Science with 10 years relevant experience
  • MSc in Hydrogeology/Geophysics with 8 years relevant experience

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook) and advanced knowledge of current up-to-date design software.  
  • Advanced knowledge of application software such as Arc-GIS, Global mapper, IPI2Win, IX1DV3, etc.).

Duration of the project:  Four months

Location: Head Office 

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Travel: 80% Domestic travel is required, On call: 20%
