Almeta Impex PLC would like to invite energetic, qualified, interested and capable managers for its Farm at Koka on the below position.

Company Profile

ALMETA IMPEX PLC is a private limited company which has been engaged in the production and export of agricultural commodities, including table and wine grapes , strawberries, herbs, peppers and other horticultural crops like avocado, papaya, banana etc from its two business units at Koka and Hawassa Farms. 

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Farm Manager organizes, directs, coordinates and controls all the functions at Koka Farms . Draw short, medium and long term plan for the company and present to the Executive Director for approval. Follows up the overall performance of the farm and presents periodic reports.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Systematize, direct, manage and control all functions of the Koka Farms. Draw short, medium and long term plans for the company and present to the Executive Director for approval;
  • Ensures that planned targets and performance standards are met; report on overall performance to the Executive Director at the periodic intervals or as and when required.
  • Ensures that the Farms operates on approved budget and monitor its implementation and update the Executives.
  • Represent the Farms in all dealings with third parties and legal proceedings as well as with local and federal government;
  • Ensure the security of the farm’s premises, assets and employees. Under guidance recruits, selects, assigns and manage employees for positions categorized as management;
  • Oversee and approve the employment, assignment and termination of employees of all categories to ensure adherence to The Farms policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the book of accounts of the farm is ready for closing on time and audited once in a year.
  • Review external audit reports, audit and inspection reports for both financial and operation quality and take appropriate measures.
  • Ensure the payment of commitments and collection of money due to the Farms.
  • Authorizes purchases of movable and immovable asset after getting approval from the Executives.
  • Ensure the protection of company asset; manage all movable and non-movable asset properly.
  • Identifies the key performance parameters for monitoring project and operation performance and comparing it to targets;
  • Follows-up, coordinates, and supervises project studies and implementation being undertaken by external consultants and contractors;
  • Assesses the current and future business development and its impact on the overall farm performance
  • Performs a risk assessment of the operations of the farm and ensures that risks to the operations are mitigated as much as possible
  • Any other duties as and when required by immediate supervisor that are reasonably within the capabilities of the incumbent and are aimed at achieving the company’s objectives and goals

 Reporting to: Executive Director-Almeta Impex PLC

Job Requirements

  • Masters degree in, Agriculture, Irrigation, Management or related field with more than 12years experience of which at least 8 years at senior managerial level.     OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with >15years experience of which at least 10 years at managerial level
  • Knowledge of drip irrigation management, fresh product industry and agribusiness is preferable
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a multiplicity of stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, Planning skill
  • Organizing and coordinating skills
  • Management skill: negotiation skill; coaching skill, inter personal skill
