Job Description

Senior Research Analyst (RAn) to work in the Agricultural Transformation and Rural Development Research Center specifically for a research project titled “Agricultural growth, Transformation and poverty reduction in Ethiopia”. The RAn will be responsible to produce high quality research reports using data from different sources and applying various economic techniques under supervision by PIs.

Principal duties and responsibility

  • Follow up with the statistician the data organization of the CSA data sets (2004/05-2017/18) to be used for analyses.
  • Follow up with the statistician the data organization of the of the climate variables from meteorology.
  • Follow up with data processing for required sets of data and computations of any data to be used
  • Undertake a comprehensive analyses to define total factor productivity (TFP), technical efficiency (TE) and scale efficiency (SE) in driving Agricultural Output Growth over time and yield gaps for Maize, Wheat, Sorghum and Barley/Tef (to include both when possible) for production period from 2004/05-2018/19.
  • Determine the production elasticity coefficients of input and the determinants of efficiency
  • Provide detail analysis and identify significant implications for food production and food security in the Ethiopian context
  • Determine research and farmer level productivity gaps for same commodities and identify the gap filling intervention needs
  • Identify key entry points for policy recommendations from the above in depth analyses
  • Participate in team meetings to be organized internally when it is required
  • Submit draft report for the assignment according to the indicated timeline
  • Present the findings of the study in the workshop to be organized by PSI

Job Requirement

  • PhD in Agricultural economics, statistics and related fields from a recognized university;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in research and policy analysis in agriculture economic development/Agricultural Economics;
  • Has project lead experience and publications in agriculture growth analysis
  • Has established reputation on his/her previous engagement with PSI/EDRI or with equivalent research institute (plus value).
  • English language proficiency and strong communication and writing skill;
  • And excellent knowledge on STATA, SPSS are highly required

Remuneration :Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
