The Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA) invites competent and qualified candidates to apply for the vacant post which the detail requirements are mentioned here below.

Brief Highlight of EWLA: Established in 1995, the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA) is a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-for profit local organization mainly works for the promotion and advancement of women’s rights in the country. It strives towards ensuring gender equality and women empowerment through fighting Gender Based Violence and Violence against Women and Children. Since its establishment, EWLA has provided free legal aid service for needy women and children through its structures stretched from its head office in Addis Ababa to the branch offices in Amhara, Oromiya, Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz, Dire Dawa; and Southern regional states. Currently, EWLA has also a structure at grass-roots level in which there are strong Voluntary Committees in 54 Zones and Woredas all over the country.

General Responsibilities

The general responsibility of the MEO is to coordinate all units of the head office and the project coordination offices in the regions to prepare and operation physical and financial plans. The officer is also responsible for monitoring and reporting on the physical and financial plans of the organization on annual, quarterly and monthly basis.     

Typical Duties

The officer is responsible for 

  • Coordinating all units of the head office as well as project coordination offices in the regions to prepare their own physical and financial  plans on annual, quarterly and monthly  basis
  • Developing annual work plans and budgets of the Service.
  • Assisting each unit in the process of making their plans operational. 
  • Compiling the annual physical and financial plans of the organization in a standard planning format and presenting them for in house validation.
  • Facilitating development of annual plan of operation of the organization through in house workshops, compiles and distributes to all concerned units of the organization.
  • Coordinating all units on timely reporting on progress of implementation periodically
  • Conducting regular monitoring of implementation through periodic reports using agreed upon performance indicators.
  • Providing ED and relevant departments with timely data/information through periodic monitoring reports to facilitate timely and informed decision making.
  •  Following up and reporting on implementation of decision made by ED and relevant departments
  • Carrying out other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Job Requirements

Requisite Qualification & Experience Required

Education     : BA/ MA in Economics, Statistics, Management or Sociology

Experience   : 6 years relevant experience with a BA or 4 years with MA
