Position Summary
The Water Projects Officer is responsible to provide technical support for the implementation and monitoring of the Commission’s various water projects in different parts of the country. He/she is also responsible for organizing water training programs for staff and other relevant stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists and monitors the implementation of water and sanitation projects
- Provide hands on technical support to ensure successful implementation of water project activities
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual reports to the department/commission office
- Meet project goals, objectives, outputs and requirements
- Undertake field visits to monitor projects activities, as well as conduct periodic reviews with donor or government counterparts and other partners as required
- Write water and sanitation projects proposals
- Propose and/or undertake action on operational procedures affecting water projects management and implementation
- Identify, plan and organize water training programs for staff and other relevant bodies
- Facilitate dialog and group decision making where appropriate.
- Provide support to ensure compliance with donor monitoring, spending and legal requirements.
Term of Employment: One year with high possibility of extension
Job Requirements
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential experience required:
- B.Sc. Degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Hydrology or related technical field
- Three years of related work experience in the development sector
- Fluency in English
- Hands on technical experience in water wells drilling and surface water development works
- Skills in project designing and appraisal
Competencies of successful candidate:
- Has good communication skills, both written and oral
- Builds team spirit and reconciles conflict; adapts to the team and fits in well
- Sets high standards for quality of work and coordinates group activities
- Manages time effectively; monitors performance against deadlines and milestones
- surveying skills, Computer skills especially in AutoCAD, GIS etc
