Job Description

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. IRC has been working in Ethiopia since 1999 and is implementing integrated, community-managed programs aimed at improving the quality of lives and recover of livelihood of disaster-affected population’s through promoting individual participation, strengthening institutions and emergency response.

Job Summary:

Community Well-being Initiative (CWI) Officer will be responsible for implementation of a program which encompasses protection through immediate assistance, daily follow-up project implementation, coordination and communication with stakeholders, and compile project documentation and reporting.

The position holder will be based at Mojo Town and directly reports to the Project Manager and indirectly to Adama field coordinator and technical supervisors.

Job Requirements

  • BSc/MSc Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Women’s Studies, or other Social science related field.
  • Minimum work experience of 3 years for BSc Degree holders & 2 years for MSc Degree holders.
  • Demonstrated experience in counseling or social service provision with women and adolescent girls.
  • Demonstrated confidence in discussing intimate gender and sexuality issues.
  • Able to maintain GBV and protection principles always – including knowledge and practical application of the GBV Guiding Principles and PSEA.
  • Ability to communicate in English, Amharic, and Afaan Oromo languages skills is required.
  • Familiarity working in Oromia regions is an advantage.
  • Ability to use MS office, word, excel, and outlook email applications very well.
