Background

Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation, water and Energy Design and Supervision Works sector, is interested in hiring of the Expatriate consultant for the sewer design, modeling and training of utility experts under Kality phase II project

Our corporation has already started the consultancy service for Study, Detail design, Tender Document Preparation and Construction Supervision for Kality Catchment Sewer Line Project Phase 11 and the freelancer expert is required to augment the professional input for the project by implementing the following tasks for the Senior Sanitary engineer. The freelancer expert is expected to lead, organize and guide the project technical team of the project to expedite the study, design and tender document preparation (Phase I) of the project activities

Scope of the Works

The freelancer expert has the following major scope of works and responsibilities, with other technical team, but not limited to, these are:

• Data validation and analysis
• Sewer Planning and Design for Kality Catchment Sewer Line Project Phase 11 to utilize the newly constructed 100,000 m3/d capacity WWTP.
• Hydraulic Modeling of Existing and ultimate sewer line for Kality catchment Wastewater collection system
• Skill transfer/Training

Data Validation and analysis

• Check and validate the data collected for sewer planning and design
• Analyze and rearrange the information collected from the site
• Evaluate the collected data and information with previously well-known bench marks

Sewer Line Planning and design

• Selecting potential sites for future expansion
• Preparing sewer line layout for selected sites
• Prepare prioritization criteria and prioritize the potential sewer line expansion areas for detail design
• Determine wastewater quantity for each area and node
• Building hydraulic model and carry out analysis of the proposed sewer line expansion sites
• Preparing Design reports, Engineering plans, layout details, profiles for sewer lines and appurtenances for each selected sewer line expansion sites
• Prepare detail house hold connection including inlet manholes
• Currently the following sewer line expansion sites are selected for design:
• Stite1: Lideta sub city W-08 and Kirkos Sub city W-07, Sub drains  S33&S33’,
• Site2: Lafto area Nifasilk Lafto sub City W-11& W-12 Sub drains S5 and S6,
• Site3: Saris, Biher Tsige, Gottera and Gofa areas Nifasilk Lafto sub City W-6, W-7 & W-10 Sub drain S8,S12,S13 &S14, (to be checked on site other staff)
• Site4: Aratkilo, aware, kasnchis and uraeal areas Arada Sub city W-9&W-7 sub drain S38, Kirkos sub City W-6&W-7 Sub drain S59 (to be checked on site by other staff) and
• Other sites that will be identified by other staff.

Hydraulic Modelling of Existing and ultimate sewer line for Kality catchment Wastewater collection system

• Carry out Hydraulic Modeling of the existing sewerage system of Kality catchment to check the performance condition and identify problems and incorporate to the design of the proposed sewer line expansion.
• Checking the viability of the Update of 2001 Wastewater master plan for ultimate requirement and outline recommendations. In the hydraulic modeling of the Ultimate trunk sewer for Kality catchment should be undertaken by incorporating Wastewater master plan, existing system and expansion proposal by this project.

Job Requirement

Skill transfer/ training

• Conduct on job training to all concerned client’s and consultant’s staff
• Share and transfer skill throughout the project period
• Training of Client staff / AAWSA/utility
• Prepare training module
• Provide training to the Client Staff on Sewer Network Design, Operation & maintenance of sewerage system to the interface of the appropriate software to be purchased by the consultant.

Required qualification and experience

Qualification: Msc or PHD in Environmental Engineering, Sanitary Engineering or related field of study from recognized university/college/institute

Experience: At least 10 years’ experience on waste water related projects out of this 5 years specific experience in feasibility study, design and training sewer modelling and sewer design with Sewer CAD, or sewer GEMS software

• Sewer Planning and design reports for the Kality catchment sewer line Project phase 11
• Design reports, Engineering plans, layout details, profiles for Proposed expansion sewer lines and appurtenances
• Hydraulic model for existing, ultimate and potential sewer line expansion sites of Kality catchment sewerage network

Contract time and payment modality

• The contract time for the expat consultant is five months, with possible extension.
• Salary Negotiable and the payment will be paid on monthly basis.
