PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under DryDev scaling Program this position is required to provide leadership and strategic guidance to BURQAA Initiative; coordinate enhancing the national partnership for sustainable development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals, in particular operational areas; encourage and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships; & lead field staff capacity gap assessment, staff capacity building; provide the compelling business case and framework for collaboration between WVE and partnering organizations; monitor the field operation and support further resource development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES

·         Lead effectively and efficiently the BURQAA Initiative in line with ensuring the project budget and other resources are utilized in an efficient way to bring intended outputs, outcomes and impact.

·         Coordinate the national partnership for sustainable development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support WVE’s strategy

·         Ensure the BURQAA Initiative five outcomes achieved, lesson gathered, scaled up and enable WVE prepositioned

·         Work professionally with Dutch based Acacia Water Consult for water balancing details and lead the implementation of the program to improve livelihood of the residents through communal land management, on-farm integrated water harvesting, environmental protection, appropriate soil and water conservation practice, improved vegetation cover, improved access to safe and drinking water, increased context based potential value chain development, public private partnerships and ensure duplication of efforts and resources and also other partners UNIDO, World Bank & other partners

·         Provide leadership for program coordinators and ensure the targeted communities identify suitable commodities; develop skills in alternative income source and increase income from on and off farm activities

·         Lead BURQAA Initiative stakeholders mapping, engaging and establishment of target area based institution towards safe exit strategy

·         Closely work with DryDev scaling team at all levels, engage additional resource mobilization, monitoring, gathering lesson, sharing lesson and scaling up

·         Create strong networking and partnership  with national and sub-national GO, FBO, Research, University, MFI and relevant stakeholders with regard to the program and also work closely with concerned levels of WVE system

·         Lead the preparation/revision of detailed annual activity vs finance, purchase and other required plan and execute

Job Requirements

  • University degree preferably M.Sc. in Rural & Urban Development,  Development Partnership Management, Environment Management and related fields

·         Experience: At least 7 years working experience Rural & Urban Development, Development Partnership Management, Environment Management and related fields

o   Practical experience in public private partnership management

o   Has served in a management/coordination capacity for at least 3 year

o   Having a clear understanding of major donors’ perspectives, requirements and standards

o   Must have proven analytical/ problem solving abilities

o   Excellent interpersonal skills – builds good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and maintain effective collaboration with all staff

o   Appropriate skills and experience in the capacity building and training of staff and partners;

o   Rich experience in extracting lessons, making presentations and handling productive meeting

o   Rich experience in communication both oral and written

o   Experience in monitoring and evaluation of activities

o   Excellent experience in proposal development, budget preparation and report writing;

o   Good knowledge of oral and written English language.

o   Experience in report writing and presentation  to different stakeholders

 

Working Environment / Conditions:

·         60% office work

·         35% field work & domestic travel

·         5% international travel are required
