PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


To engage in writing and reviewing emergency response and rehabilitation related proposals and provide technical support on the designing and implementation of the same.

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Engage in, coordinate and review the preparation of  emergency response  and rehabilitation project/program  proposals and concept papers 
  • Closely follow up and monitor implementation of emergency response and rehabilitation  projects/programs and take the necessary step to correct any deviations from the objectives or propose amendments
  • Facilitate and involve assessments of community needs, vulnerabilities and capacities to propose the necessary intervention
  • Engage and facilitate the compilation and documentation of emergency response projects/programs progress and final reports
  • Provide technical support and guidance on the planning and implementation of emergency response projects/programs
  • Follow up budget status of projects and programs under his/her supervision and review the same
  • Mainstream cross-cutting issues (gender, CC, environment, advocacy,  disability, child protection, etc,) in emergency and rehabilitation  programs/projects
  • Participate in the evaluation and impact assessment of emergency response and recovery projects and programs by preparing draft TOR and coordinating at the field level and review of the findings
  • Participate in humanitarian Taskforces/ clusters  meetings for exchange of information and coordination purpose
  • Assist the associate director in developing and updating emergency response strategies; recommend response measures and structures for WVE emergency preparedness and response to developing humanitarian crisis 
  • Engage in and ensure that appropriate tools like Coaching For Performance (CFP) and mentoring etc are practiced within the department to enhance smooth staff relations and accountability

Job Requirements

QULIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

In order to qualify for this positions candidates are expected to meet the following qualifications i.e. technical skills , or other knowledges are required :

  • Educational level required:  BA/BSC Degree in Agricultural Economics, Development Studies , Preferred  Master’s Degree in  development studies ,  Agriculture, Disaster Management ,  and or other related fields  
  • Experience:  minimum 5  years of experience and 2 years in Supervisory level in refugee or disaster management and development work  

Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; 
  • Good public relations and public speaking skills;
  • Requires: fluent in spoken and written in English, good writing skills;

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Office-based with frequent travel to the field 
  • Travel:  25-30 % domestic/international travel is required and 20 % on Call
  • Place of Work:  Central Regional Office , Addis Ababa,
