This role is responsible for providing financial management support to the Civil Society Support Programme 2 (CSSP2) in line with requirements of the programme, the British Council, the client and donors.


You  will be a critical interface between a geographically dispersed and multi-disciplinary team and the British Council functional units, policies and procedures in Ethiopia and elsewhere that support programme delivery.


The scope of the role is diverse, providing financial management capacity to support the essential programme platform, grant management functions and external grant recipients; You will need to work flexibly in collaboration with other workstreams if challenging payment linked deliverables are met.

The programme management footprint is necessarily small; the post holder will need to work independently to apply or adapt standard processes to ambiguous circumstances in ways that control and manage programme risk.  This will require strong business judgement and the ability to work confidently without constant supervision. 

Job Requirements

  • Experience of supporting financial management and reporting operations within a donor funded project context
  • Experience of SAP or similar ERP financial management system
  • Experience of supporting and mentoring financial process and procedural compliance amongst non-financial staff and managers
  • Minimum of three  years’ experience in a key finance role
