WFP Ethiopia is working with the government and other humanitarian partners to strengthen the resilience of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable population and to chart a more prosperous and sustainable future for the next generation. The Country Office also supports programmes that use food assistance to empower women, transform areas affected by climate change and keep children in school. It aims to contribute to Ethiopia’s five-year development agenda, the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), through which the Government combats food insecurity.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This position is located in WFP Ethiopia Country Office based in Addis Ababa. The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of the Design Manager and overall supervision of the Head of Engineering Unit or the designate. The jobholder will be responsible for the accountabilities identified hereunder.
JOB PURPOSE
WFP Ethiopia is looking for a CAD Technician with emphasis in Architectural design, to be part of Engineering Unit and produce designs, drawings in 2D and 3D and fly-through videos for presentation purposes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Plan and prioritize workload on a weekly basis in discussion with the Design Engineer and the Head of Engineering.
- Produce global perspective drawings in a 3D environment using ArchiCAD or other.
- Produce 2D Architectural, Structural, Electrical and Sanitary drawings for various projects under the guidance of Project Managers and the Design Engineer.
- Develop fly-through video presentations of particular designs.
- Conduct dimensional surveys and drawings of WFP compounds in Ethiopia.
- Produce site plans, setting out information, as built drawings and site profile for given construction site.
- Produce standard drawing details as per WFP Field Engineering standard.
- Liaise with other WFP disciplines such as ICT, Security to produce up to standard drawings.
- Provide input into designs including recommendations on layouts, dimensions, orientations etc.
10.Conduct Quality checks in compliance with the Engineering Unit Quality Control manual.
11.Attend meetings with clients and other stakeholders to understand design and provide necessary feedback.
12.Propose and suggest ideas that can help develop most cost effective, practical and feasible options for office and other amenities design.
13.Perform other duties as required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
- Experience in both Civil engineering projects and Building design projects.
- Proficiency in Sketch up.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD and Fusion.
- Qualification in Architecture is an added value.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is required. A university degree in Architecture is desirable.
Experience: Six or more years of relevant progressively responsible experience in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and related areas. Out of which at least 2 years producing 3D drawings and BIM models, developing fly-through videos and presentations.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage.
