The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned bellow.

About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 11 Regional Offices, 33 Zonal Branches and 131  District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee  and 5871 Kebele Red Cross  committees.

Key Performance Areas

  • Conducts periodic  baseline survey,  environmental scanning and SWOT analysis activities that enable  the Society to define underlying assumptions and develop input database for the planning, monitoring and evaluation activities of the Society ; 
  • Undertakes SWOT analysis on the data  drawn through environmental assessment and formulates input data for crafting strategic, medium-term and short-term plan of the Society;
  • Gives advisory and technical  support in formulating and cascading strategic plan of the Society;
  • Monitors possible contingencies on the general underlying assumptions and situations considered in formulating long-, medium-, and short-term plans of the Society and  proposes  valid revisions on plans to make necessary adjustments to   unforeseen circumstances or unfolding contingencies and changes;
  • Participates in developing  policy guidelines and tools that ensure standardized and effective planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting across the Society; 
  • Conducts performance data gathering and consolidation, evaluation against plan, performance variance analysis and recommends  remedial actions to pertinent decision makers of the Society; 
  • Evaluates the implementation progress of the Society’s projects  against plans and commitments  concluded with the donors of the respective projects;
  • Maintains and upgrades the Society’s corporate planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting database; 
  • Collects, processes, evaluates or analyses data and makes projection of statistical series;
  • Processes and organizes data into forms amenable to analysis and interpretation and undertakes computation of averages, ratios, distributions, correlation coefficients and other statistical items;
  • Analyses and interprets data and presents them in tabular, graphical, chart, report or other forms suitable for known or potential  users;
  • Devises and proposes directives for the preparation of action plan and the associating budget;
  • Develops and reviews monitoring and recording tools to trace progress; orients users on monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Streamlines reporting mechanisms to internal and external users to in a way that enhances clarity, accountability and transparency; 
  • Disseminates approved plans and budgets with clear directives on how to utilize and execute;
  • Compiles and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the overall performance of the Society;

Terms of employment:

Job Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  • Second/first degree in Economics/Management/ Statistics, project management, / related fields and 2/4 years related work experience

Special Skills

  • Computer Literacy, Mobil data collection, project management, & different  software’s     
  • Willing to give voluntary service to the society with his/her own initiative.
