The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centers dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices in East, South and Southern Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org
Impact at Scale Program (I@S) was established to ensure ILRI has the requisite human and management capacity to facilitate partnerships with other organizations to deliver at scale; provide appropriate incentives for staff undertaking such activities; and ensure the institute can demonstrate the impact of livestock research for development. Working in 16 African and Asian countries, I@S also provides evidence of proven approaches and interventions covering technologies, institutional arrangements, business models and policy support, which can be scaled to different contexts. https://www.ilri.org/research/programs/impact-scale
About the position:
ILRI intends to accelerate the efforts to improve its value proposition, product development and research model and strengthen its ability to achieve impact with improved overall efficiency and effectiveness. ILRI wants to develop a systematic approach to evaluate the potential scalability of its research products and has designed an iterate process for scaling strategy development based on the literature review of existing scaling tools and methodologies.
ILRI seeks to recruit a Graduate Fellow, Science of Scaling based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with visa sponsorship possible for international applicants. This fellowship will focus on the ‘science of scaling’, working with the Program Leader and other ILRI and CGIAR research program colleagues to

Terms of appointment and stipend:
This is an appointment for 10-12 months (with the possibility of extension, or conversely, for the right candidate we may consider a shorter assignment). Start date will be agreed with the selected candidate, but ideally from February onwards.
