New Zealand Milk Products (Ethiopia) S.C. is a joint venture between New Zealand dairy co-operative Fonterra and local food manufacturer Faffa Food. We manufacture and distribute our flagship brand Anchor at our milk powder dry blending plant in Addis Ababa, which is the first of its type in Ethiopia. Anchor was created in New Zealand in 1886 and has since grown to become one of the top global dairy brands with a wide range of products sold in more than 100 countries.

  • The Production coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementation of health & safety, Food safety & quality and productivity culture within the plant.
  • The outcome is to provide the site with confidence that regulatory, food safety, quality and productivity requirements have been correctly interpreted and applied.
  • Responsible to adhere to all safe work instructions and Implementation of continuous improvement processes in all areas.
  • Fully responsible for health and safety practice of the site.
  • Coordinating plant compliance to relevant regulations, food safety, and quality and productivity standards.
  • Assure the H/S & FSQ status of the site through inspection and audit
  • Implements, maintains and improves the effectiveness of the FSMS. 
  • Trains, coaches and assesses team members on Fonterra concepts.
  • Creates work plans, and coordinates activities between pillar teams and work groups.
  • Conducts pillar and work group audits and provides feedback to the teams.
  • Share and drive best practices with pillar teams and work groups.
  • Provides summary data of pillar and work group progress, both written and oral.
  • Support KPI and Visual Board Management, including administrative duties for the monthly/weekly scorecards.
  • Responsible to adhere to all safe work instructions. Ensure processes are run in accordance with SOPs and other standards
  • Understand and represent all regulations, and Fonterra policies, procedures and work instructions; apply fairly and consistently
  • Key point - to learn the methods of the Fonterra pillar. Requires active involvement with the work groups on the pilot line.
  • Use Fonterra’s problem solving tools like GSTD/RCA/ICAM/ to identify and address root causes of problems on production lines.
  • Create and update standards (CILs) to achieve sustainable performance results.
  • Participate actively in Shift Handovers, DMS and WOR to ensure continuity of problem solving efforts.
  • Train, support and coach team members on standards and best practices of Fonterra.
  • Oversee that operators, engineering technicians and quality officers are engaged at all times and are performing their duties correctly.
  • Make sure that the equipment and areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Support team when needed for line relief and/or perform preventative maintenance when short-handed.
  • Support the production team to eliminate top losses across multiple lines.
  • Work flexible hours and schedule which range from 8-12 hours.
  • Be willing to work on weekends, night shift and holidays if necessary.
  • Help drive and lead projects for line improvements.
  • Support troubleshooting machine faults through FES Methodologies
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree/Masters in Production or Food Technology
  • Tertiary qualification / certification in Food Science / Process Engineering disciplines Skills:

Experiences

  • 5 years in Manufacturing or local organizations in the Food and Beverage or Consumer products industry
  • Food Manufacturing in a GMP

  • Critical environment
