Plan International Ethiopia is looking for  a Welcome Center Coordinator for SNNP Program Area who will be reporting to the Chief of Party.

Role Purpose

The Welcome Centre Coordinator provides technical and administrative support to the Hawassa Industrial Park Welcome Centre. He/she welcomes and provides information for the newly recruited HIP workers, visitors and maintains the centre’s communications and assists workers and relevant stakeholders with questions and concerns related to industrial park and the Hawassa community.

Dimensions of the Role

The role has no direct reports. However, the job holder will have frequent contact with various size and profile visitors. He/she is required to give up to date and concrete information on workers and WWA project related information at the Welcome Center.

Accountabilities

Coordinates with recruiters on how to portray information to the newly recruited workers at the centre and deliver information (soft or hard) to the workers.

  • Plans for information dissemination and centre based orientations to in consultation with the Communications Manager
  • Implements updated information displays and designs at the centre
  • Maintains orientation and information sharing statistics and creates daily reports  (will also share a compiled report on weekly, monthly and quarterly)  
  • Assists with the field level recruiters and screeners training and provides information on what to focus in the training related to information sharing to workers
  • Maintains accurate information regarding the age, gender, community of origin etc of the recruited workers who have received the information pack (it could be print outs or videos etc).
  • Provides information to recruited and prospective workers on the industrial park at the Welcome Centre.
  • Connects drop-in job seekers to the relevant department/centre at the Industrial Park by providing accurate information
  • Stays up-to-date on general industrial park worker- related policies and procedures regarding recruitment schedules, requirements, work ethics, work hours, dress codes, do’s and don’ts, etc
  • Updates the WWA staff on new developments on information packet and centre-related activities on weekly, biweekly, monthly and quarterly basis as required

Job Requirements

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mass communication, psychology and other relevant social sciences fields
  • Four years welcome centre and/or related experience.
  •  Certified in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook) and graphic designs.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate a personal computer and utilize software including, but not limited to MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other computer applications.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate with industry workers, HR managers, and international visitors in English, Amharic and other local languages.
  • Ability to gather feedback from workers that will be used to as an input to improve the welcome centre and informational materials and displays.
  • Ability to interpret and implement various feedback and comments received at the centre to the needs of the industry park workers
  • Ability to listen, understand and research issues for industrial park workers. 
    Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments in consultation with the field team.
  • Ability to work independently and be a team player
  • Ability to document, archive, and share information
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the industrial park community.
  • The ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Ability to operate in an interactive, fast-paced, culturally diverse environment.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by her/his line manager
