JOB TITLE: Business Development Manager
REPORTS TO: General Manager
THE ROLE
A Business Development Manager is a senior role, and as such has some important duties and responsibilities to fulfill, with both short and long-term goals to achieve. A Business Development Manager Job description should cite some of the below tasks and objectives:
? Developing growth strategies and plans.
? Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients.
? Increasing client base.
? Having an in-depth knowledge of business products and value proposition.
? Negotiating with stakeholders.
? Identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs.
? Researching business opportunities and viable income streams.
? Following industry trends locally and internationally.
? Reporting on successes and areas needing improvements.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: -
? Maintaining a working relationship with vendors and venues.
? Understanding the complex needs of different events, and diverse clients.
? Planning event aspects, such as venue, seating, dining, and guest list.
? Ability to delegate event planning tasks to other staff members where necessary.
? Strong knowledge of venues and vendor offerings while taking clients on tours of venue possibilities.
? Coordinating event and entertainment.
? Attentive to the value of staying under budget while planning event specifications.
? Managing and overseeing events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, and organizing vendors, and managing take-down.
? Communicating with the Business Development team to create effective advertisements for each event.
? Identify the requirements and expectations of each event.
? Liaise with vendors, exhibitors, and stakeholders during the event planning process to ensure everything is in order.
? Manage all event set-up, tear down and follow-up processes.
? Maintain event budgets.
? Understand the requirements for each event
? Research vendors (catering, decorators, musicians, etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost
? Negotiate with vendors to achieve the most favorable terms
? Communicating with Business Development team to hire personnel for the event if it’s required
? Manage all event operations (preparing venue, invitations, etc.)
? Book venues, entertainers, photographers, and schedule speakers.
? Do final checks at the day of the event to ensure everything meets standards
? Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems
? Assess an event’s overall success, submit findings and reports.
? Anticipating and planning for possible different scenarios.
? Creating sales opportunities for future events during client liaisons and during events.
? Strong communication skills and the ability to present event ideas and plans to clients and vendors.
Salary- 10,000-12,500 gross + Allowances
