World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is an International Humanitarian Christian Organization whose objective is to provide holistic and integrated development and emergency response programs in the country. WVE North Region Office has an immediate opening for a person who fulfills the following qualifications.

1.    Purpose of the position:

To supervise, conduct design, studies and review water resource development and other civil works implementation. And closely follow up and ensure the implementation of water resource development projects and other civil works are in line with the plan, design, available standards, community needs and donor’s requirement.

2.     Major duties:-

·         Review water resource development and other civil works document in the operational area and make regular discussions with government line offices to create smooth relationships, mutual understanding and support.

·         In association with relevant experts from government offices, perform water resources development and other civil works studies and conduct design review as required by the project.

·         Collect drawings/designs, specifications, bill of quantities from concerned government offices and review/verify for technical compliance. Ensure the compliance of the water development designs with the national WASH Standards and contribute to the overall government OWNP.

·         Review and verify MOU and construction agreements in accordance with the policy of the organization; prepare bill of quantities, engineering estimation, payment certificates, specification and cost estimate for water resource development and other civil work projects. Facilitate any required contract administration process & ensure timely procurement of materials for project construction.

·         Conduct close field supervision for the implementation of all planned activities within budget, time and scope. Ensure water resource development and other civil works projects are in line with the plan, design, available standards, and community needs and donors requirement.

·         Provide timely feedback on the progress of the construction works, challenges and concerns encountered for appropriate action by the project management team as deemed necessary.

·         Ensure different water projects meet the WHO & national standard. Facilitate site handing over initially and taking over of completed constructions to the user communities or the concerned government offices and guarantee proper documentations for future reference.

·         Facilitate handing over of completed water supply projects to the user communities and concerned government offices with proper documentation to ensure sustainability.

·         Prepare weekly, monthly, biannual and annual progress reports.

·         Carry out any other duties as instructed by the AP manager.

·          Community mobilization in integrated way on WASH, health, education and livelihood in relation to RC and non-RC children wellbeing. RC Monitoring and follow up for sector outcome and report to appropriate focal point following organization-approved indicators. Data collection on contribution of  WASH intervention to child wellbeing including RCs

Job Requirements

1.     Educational Qualifications required: BSc  in Water Resources/ Hydraulic/Civil Engineering and other related fields 

2.     Work Experience: At least 2 years of experience in water resource development and related construction areas, NGO experience and WASH Project supervision is preferred.

3.     Technical Training qualifications required:  Experience in using word, excel and other computer skills are required
