Job Description

Procurement Manager, responsible for the full spectrum of purchasing process including supplier selection and management, price negotiation, purchase order execution, timely delivery, stock optimization, etc

The Core Responsibilities for this position are:

  • Assist and work along with the General Manager in developing and maintaining relationship with foreign vendors
  • Ensure all raw material import orders, negotiated or placed by the Company, adheres to quality requirements of the Ethiopian Standards Authority
  • Lead, monitor and co-ordinate the following activities, upon forex approval, to ensure zero delays in lead time:
  • LC opening and communication to the Supplier
  • Co-ordinate timely availability of shipping line vessels for FOB imports
  • Follow up for timely presentation of LC documents at bank
  • Co-ordinate timely settlement and release of documents from the bank
  • Monitor clearing activities by the Clearing agents
  • Ensure imported goods are correctly classified at Customs and correct duties are paid
  • Ensure no demurrage and/or penalties incur on the Company
  • Co-ordinate material test results from the Ethiopian Standards Authority and ensure goods are released for production only after obtaining positive test results
  • Ensure final customs declaration is filed with the National Bank of Ethiopia in time and the Company’s account remain free of any delinquency at all times
  • Build and maintain relationships with local vendors/service providers and relevant Government authorities
  • Compare proposals for price and specifications, if required, seek assistance of the respective department
  • Negotiate with local vendors/service providers
  • Review contract specifications on behalf of the company
  • Communicate with both foreign and local vendors to ensure that the product arrives in a timely fashion
  • Keep accurate track of the shipment, inventory and supply of materials
  • Ensure the supplies conforms to the supply contract / order and approve procurement invoices for payment; Report exceptions immediately to the management
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly procurement reports

Reporting to : General Manager 

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in handling procurement function 
  • Graduate degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Management or any other related business studies
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Power point
  • Proficient in both English and Amharic language, both spoken and written
  • Honesty, integrity and impeccable personal values
