Job Description

IRC Ethiopia provides advisory, consultancy, research, innovation and knowledge management services in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector. It is a subsidiary of IRC (www.ircwash.org), the international think-and-do tank headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. We work with governments, NGOs, businesses and people around the world to find long-term solutions to the global crisis in WASH services. We work closely with the Government of Ethiopia and its development partners to help bring sustainable water and sanitation services to all in the country.

IRC WASH is a member of a team working on revision of the National Sanitation Marketing Guideline lead by Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH).  IRC WASH is also a consortium member of organizations implementing the USAID-funded Transform WASH project led by Population Services International (PSI), along with SNV and Plan International.  One of our key result areas is increasing knowledge base and bring innovation to scale based on experiences and evidences that will inform national or subnational sector policies, guidelines, or strategies.

IRC WASH Ethiopia, with a collaboration of FMoH, seek to engage a well-qualified individual consultant to review the Sanitation Marketing Guideline using both primary and secondary data collection methods through desk-based review, surveys and interviews engaging regional health bureaus, private sectors, partners and other concerned stakeholders.  The Consultant should be familiar with the WASH generally and Sanitation Marketing in particular. The Consultant will be hired by IRC, but will work under the direct supervision of Hygiene and Environmental Health Directorate’s Basic Sanitation Services Team Coordinator at FMoH and will report progress of the revision process every two weeks to the Directorate.
