Project Officer (Livelihood)

Duty Base: West Hararghe, East Hararghe, Borena, Afar and North Program Office

Objectives: The Emeregncy Project Officer (Livelihoods and DRR Officer) is responsible for the implermentaion of of  emerency livelihoods  related interventions (restocking, cash transfer, establishment of VSLAs, and DRR activities  ) in two project woredas of Borena (Moyale and Dire) Admisnstartive zone, Oromia region. She/he ensures the establishment of linkage between governerment extension services.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

 

Planning and implementation:

 

§  In collaboration with zonal and Woreda partners carry out assessment to find out alternative ways that could strengthen the effectiveness of livelihood based drought recovery emergency intervention in the project Woredas.

§  In collaboration with Project Manager develop and regularly update of the project work plan (DIP), monthly, quarterly and semi annual work plans to effectively carry out drought recovery intervention to achieve the intended project goals.

§  Ensures the participation of community, particularly women in beneficiary selection and timely provision of project deliverables

§  Lead the establishment of VSLA groups, early warning and DRR committees

 

 Coordination and Networking:

§  Strengthens organizational linkage between  the project and Woreda Pastoralist Development Offices and other stakeholders.

§  Ensure collabration and good working relationship with Borena Cluster (ECHO Consortium and EU SHARE)

 

Training and Capacity Building:

§  Organizes training and other capacity building program for targeted project beneficiaries in the respective project Woredas in close collaboration with Project Manager

§  In collaboration with community facilitators carries out community sensitization and awareness regarding vegetable , small ruminant and poultry productions

 

 Reporting:

 

§  Review and compile periodic ( monthly and quarterly progress ) reports on reasonable time frame

§  Compile aggregated data by sex and age  composition of targeted households and their family members

§  With other concerned staff,  collect , compile  and report an early warning data on regular basis 

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications (Know/How)

 

A)    Education/Training

 

BSc degree in agriculture or rural development field of studies.

 

B)    Experience

 

More than 5 years  of related experiences for BSc degree and 3 years for MSc

 

C)    Competencies
